plymouth-disabler software package provides disable plymouth by installing .override files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install plymouth-disabler
plymouth-disabler is installed in your system.
Make ensure the plymouth-disabler package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep plymouth-disabler *
You will get with plymouth-disabler package name, version, architecture and description in a table
